Peer Mentors for the Experiential Education and Engagement Center (EEEC) are undergraduate students who help guide and encourage fellow AUM students. Peer Career Mentors provide undergraduate students with personalized, peer-to- peer guidance to assist with career readiness, professional development, and job/internship searches while at AUM.
Duties and Responsibilities: Meet one-on-one with peer undergraduate students to help create career action plans, involving academic, experiential and involvement activities, with goals and milestones for completion.
Mentor undergraduate students on best practices for building professionalism and articulating knowledge and skills to employers and others of influence.
Assist the Manager of Employer and Student Engagement by reviewing resumes and other job search materials, and researching leads for students seeking job opportunities.
Attend CDC programs and events, providing support to students.
Qualifications: Must successfully complete Peer Career Mentor training program
A current AUM undergraduate student with a 2.75 GPA (minimum)
Completed at least two semesters at AUM (full-time status)
Uphold the mission of Auburn University at Montgomery
Encourage reflection and growth
Lead meaningful and engaging activities/discussions with students
Be available to work twice per week within the CDC office (2.5 hours per day)
Provide activity reports to the Director of Career Development as requested
Strong written/verbal communication skills
Knowledge of majors/programs of study across the AUM Colleges
Peer Career Mentors will work 5 hours per week at the AUM Career Development Center, Room 323 Taylor Center.
