About This Role:

  • Tutors assist 10th through 12th grade students in math.
  • Tutors engage in academic activities with selected students either one-on- one or with small groups.
  • Tutors will collaborate with the Evolution Academy coordinator to assess students' needs and how best to address them. Many of the students that tutors work with are performing below their expected academic grade level.
  • Tutors will model and encourage collaborative study strategies.
  • Tutors will use the designated curriculum.
  • Tutors will create and manage resources.
  • Tutors will contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment.
  • Tutors will meet regularly with coordinator.
  • Tutors will encourage and motivate students in a positive manner.
  • Tutors must have effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Tutors must have the ability to relate to students with various academic levels and needs.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    What You'll Need to Succeed – Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 hours.
  • Minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 3.0 with an A or B in targeted course if applicable
  • Must have own transportation.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must have approval from Lamar University/ Evolution Academy
