General Description:
The Work Integrated Learning Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the work integrated learning program at Fairleigh Dickinson University – Vancouver campus.
Supervision Received:
The Work Integrated Learning Program Assistant reports to the Associate Director of Career Services and receives supervision concerning objectives to be achieved. The incumbent is expected to work independently and collaboratively on daily tasks and special projects, as well as collaborate with other key internal and external constituent groups.
Principal Duties:
1. Assist with internship registration and student information record keeping (both physical and digital).
2. Communicate, coordinate, and assist program staff (e.g., Faculty, Program Coordinators, Work Experience Program Coordinators, Career Advisors) with issues related to course and program implementation needs.
3. Contribute to career related social media communications on Facebook and Instagram.
4. Serve as students' first point of contact in the Career Services Office and enhance their understanding of available services and resources.
5. Develop supplemental career advising resources, including tip sheets and blog posts on relevant career preparation topics.
6. Support career services related events, including Job Fairs, Employer Visits, Industry Talks, and Alumni Series.
7. Use Handshake and Excel to keep student records up to date, adding and removing internship job description and associated data when necessary.
8. Provide administrative and logistical support to the program.
9. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
1. A minimum of an undergraduate degree in Business or in a discipline that emphasizes career development, counseling, experiential learning, adult education, management, communication, or a related discipline.
2. 1 year of related work experience in administrative support and/or marketing assistance.
3. Experience working in post-secondary institutions and/or Co-operative Education is a bonus.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills.
6. Proven strong work ethic and time-management.
7. Fluency in a second language and experience with international students/employers an asset.
8. Canadian residency or work permit required.
9. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Insurance Number.
