Are you looking to develop your skills working as part of a collaborative and innovative team doing rewarding work? We are looking to hire a Widening Participation Assistant to join an energetic team that runs projects positively impacting the lives and choices of young people.
The role holder is a member of the Widening Participation (WP) team which coordinates and delivers WP and access activities for the University. They will develop a good understanding of all the team's initiatives, and support the effective delivery of both online and in person activity. They will work closely with all members of the team, particularly project coordinators, to ensure the smooth-running of projects.
In this role you will have lots of opportunities to contribute ideas, bring a new perspective and help streamline processes. The successful applicant will be highly organised and proactive, taking on a range of tasks related to WP projects. This will include managing enquiries from event participants and teachers; disseminating event information; booking rooms and equipment required for events; checking the accuracy and quality of material before it's published online; cleaning and uploading data to internal systems; and supporting the recruitment of academics, ambassadors and others involved with WP projects.
The ideal candidate is process-driven and pays close attention to detail. You will be working with large amounts of data so should be confident in your ability to sort, process and act on information quickly. As the first point of contact for many young people interested in higher education and the University of Cambridge, you will need excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate confidently and sensitively to a diverse range of people.
The University of Cambridge has agile working and flexible working practices. In the WP team most colleagues work both from home (full equipment provided) and in our office in central Cambridge. The balance of home/office working depends on the operational need of each role (as agreed with the line manager and Head of Team) and all members of the team are required to be in the office at least one or two days a week.
The closing date for applications is 29 May 2023.
Interviews for the role will be held on 6 June 2023 in Cambridge.
