Position Details Position Title Welding Full Time Instructor

Job Description

This position is responsible for teaching classes as assigned by the Academic Dean. Assignment locations include Clarinda, Logan, Harlan and Council Bluffs Iowa. Assignments will start in January 10, 2022.

Must evaluate and report student performances and progress in courses in accordance with college and division policies and procedures. .

All welding labs must meet safety regulations. Other duties include, but are not limited to, teaching classroom and laboratory sessions, curriculum development/restructuring, lab oversight and safety activities, student success, student recruitment, and responsibility for materials and supplies. Candidates interviewed may be required to provide a teaching demonstration.

Bachelor's degree in Welding OR 6000 hours of work experience OR Possess a combination of education, training, and at least 6,000 hours of recent, relevant tested experience in the field. Expertise should include MIG, Oxy- Acetylene, and TIG welding as well as cutting processes, safety, and blueprint reading.

Usage of an online learning management system is required. Hiring process includes ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience is preferred. Strong motivation to work/serve under-prepared students.

Physical Demands

Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping or stretching. May require heavy lifting depending on assignment and lab. Requires the safe use of welding equipment. ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment, and ability to work with diverse populations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use a phone. Some travel, by vehicle, may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, high degree of problem-solving, organizational skills with the teaching and learning process, and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred.
