    35 hours per week, 2-year fixed term contract

    ARU Students' Union are looking to recruit a Web Developer to join our team. As our web developer, you will play an essential role in creating and maintaining our website. You will collaborate with other members of our team on various web projects, ensuring that our digital presence is up-to-date and fully functional.

    What you will be doing

  • Collaborate closely with the Communications and Marketing team to design and develop our website
  • Develop microsites for larger annual SU projects such as the SU Awards and Welcome Week
  • Monitor website performance, develop strategies and integrate new website functionality that will improve user experience
  • Ensure website functionality and troubleshoot potential issues
  • Create and maintain website documentation, including coding standards, content management, and version control
  • Manage the website helpdesk, resolving the routine requests that come in from the teams across the Students' Union (SU)
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in web development
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as accessibility and data privacy regulations
  • Make recommendations for future, long term improvements, to the website and the user experience
  • What we're looking for

  • Degree in computer science, web development, or a related field
  • Experience in web development and design
  • Working knowledge of front-end web development languages, such as Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience working with content management systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of people from different teams, all of which have varying requirements

  • Effective organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work
