At the VUB, you'll find a diverse collection of personalities: pure innovators and especially people who are 100% their authentic selves. With about 3.500 employees , we are the largest Flemish-speaking employer in Brussels , an international city with which we are all too happy to be connected, and around which our four campuses are located.

2 - Position Description

The VSC (Flemish Supercomputer Centre) supports the HPC (high performance computing) activities in all Flemish university associations (https: // www. vscentrum.be) for more than 10 years. Within the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the local VSC hub is part of the Scientific Data and Compute team ( https: // hpc.vub.be ), responsible for the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) office of VSC.

We are looking for a new colleague to join this team full of passionate people, to work as a business developer between current and new RDI users (mostly industry) and the VSC.

A quick look at your work package:

  • You will be responsible for connecting to new RDI users while identifying and understanding their needs or business cases and will follow up leads whilst building up a network with valorization offices at the university associations, spin-off communities, and other company hubs, such as (pre)incubators.
  • You will help translate computational problems into solutions built with VSC services and will help and advise in setting up services tailored to RDI users.
  • You manage and communicate with stakeholders, including the VSC team, clients, and partners to ensure successful implementation and adoption of HPC solutions.
  • Together with your other VSC colleagues you will actively promote the VSC and its services on all relevant platforms or events, provide input for the VSC marketing and documentation where relevant.
  • You report on intake of RDI users and help prepare contracts and invoices for them.
  • For this function, our Campus in Etterbeek will serve as your home base, in combination with working from home (2-3 days/week) and with customers on site in Flanders.

    3 - Profile
  • You feel at home in an IT environment.
  • You have a master's degree, phd or postdoc in a relevant field of study or sufficient relevant experience to master the complexity of the subject

  • You have some affinity with industrial RDI. You have the needed skills and the eagerness to set up a RDI network within Flanders (VLAIO, Agoria, Voka, companies, …)
  • Knowledge of any of the main domains of industrial RDI is a big p lus: Computational Fluid Dynamics, Machine/Deep Learning, Data science, Quantum Chemistry, Bioinformatics, …
  • You have strong social/communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills
  • You love to share knowledge and express yourself fluently in English and Dutch
  • 4 - Offer

Are you going to be our new colleague? You'll be offered a permanent full-time contract at a salary linked to Grade 8 or Grade 9, depending on your competences and previous relevant work experience.
