The Automotive Mechanic/Technician Adjunct Faculty member is an instructional position directly responsible to the Automotive Program Manager and Director of Academic Programs. The overall duties and responsibilities of the position are to accomplish the vocational-technical program goals in conjunction with the instructor's expert knowledge, skills, and abilities. The Adjunct Faculty member is to plan, organize, teach, and provide feedback to promote and direct student learning.

Minimum Required Education

Associates Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required.

Minimum Required Experience

Two years' wage-earning work experience in the automotive field and specifically related to the learning outcomes of each course cleared to teach required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in the use of current technology and basic computer operations skills to include using and managing Microsoft Office tools and files, PDF files, Internet navigation and research, email accounts, online publisher accounts for instructor resources, shared drives, electronic forms, and scanning systems.
  • Has ability to work independently and proactively without direct supervision; can problem-solve, has attention to details; can properly handle sensitive student issues and Personally Identifiable Information (PII); and possesses excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Has demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills that include the ability to clearly articulate information and ideas with students, peers, field staff, and HQ staff in emails, in-class, and online; and actively listens to others.
  • Possesses initiative and ownership of role and responsibilities given; has ability to plan and identify strategies to deliver class, set goals, create, and implement action plans; and evaluate processes and results.
  • Availability to instruct courses during lunch, in the evenings, and/or on weekend hours as determined by local site's students' needs.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of the theory and practices involved in automotive troubleshooting, repair, and instruction.
