The Department of Studio Art offers students an intensive exploration across a breadth of media and within a depth of discipline that allows students to prepare to be an artist, begin a career in the arts, continue their studies in graduate school, or become leaders and educators. Students gain skills and competencies, including team-based learning, technology, communication, aesthetic judgment, interdisciplinary and innovative approaches, critical analysis, and professional development throughout their program of study.
Position Overview
The Studio Art Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Visual Arts Technician to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Management of the Sculpture concentration facilities for student and faculty use by: Maintaining a safe student work environment. Maintaining equipment and web checkout system. Purchasing supplies. Disseminating information. Keeping lab records and files. General office duties. Other duties as assigned. Setting safety standards, supervising hourly workers.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree and two years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: An MFA in a Studio Art; preferably lens based, or and 2-years minimum college teaching experience at the level of TA, TF or above.
Required License / Registration / Certification Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm.

Job Duties
o
Maintenance of facilities including equipment, materials inventory, organization and cleanliness of sculpture studios, classrooms and work spaces.
o
Maintenance of health and safety standards and practices in sculpture. Ensures safe material and equipment use for undergraduate classrooms and studio spaces and graduate studios.
o
Makes purchases for all necessary supplies and equipment for the area, and reconciles and documents all purchases for sculpture.
o
Provides classroom support for instruction for no more than 30 min. per class as appropriate.
o
Hires, trains and supervises student hourly workers and graduate student assistants.
o
Provides support to area faculty, and teaching fellows its in the preparation and display of student work as required; provides support for visiting artists or visitors; runs errands as required to accomplish programmatic tasks, and other general clerical duties.
o
Completes other duties as assigned and or approved by the Studio Art Department Chair or Associate Dean.
