Description:

The University of Illinois, Department of Medicine is seeking candidates for Visiting Research Associate I positions in the All of Us Research Program, a Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Study. The All of Us Research Program seeks to extend precision medicine to all diseases by building a national research cohort of one million or more U.S. participants. All of Us is a participant-engaged, data-driven enterprise supporting research at the intersection of human biology, behavior, genetics, environment, data science, computation and much more to produce new knowledge with the goal of developing more effective ways to treat disease. As part of this dynamic team, the Visiting Research Associate I staff are point persons in recruiting and enrolling research participants into this historic program.

Duties:

Perform surveys, interviews, observations or uses other methods according to established research protocols.

Prepare data for analysis and execute details of studies. Perform analysis and document results.

May conduct literature searches.

Order study supplies and maintain inventories.

Maintain detailed records of results and prepare written reports.

Maintain and process required paperwork.

Utilize communication skills to gain agreement from members to participate in the research program; persistently forge trusting relationships and engage individuals not readily familiar with the research.

Support participants in completion of informed consent procedures and questionnaires on an iPad/mobile device.

Conduct the physical measurements component of the interview (including height, weight, hip and waist circumference, and automated blood pressure) and bio specimen collection and processing.

Work with clinical staff regarding participant flow operations.

Follow IRB protocol as outlined by study.

Monitor project developments on an ongoing basis.

Enter data related to physical measures and bio specimen samples.

Maintain detailed records of results and prepare written reports.

Work with clinical and community liaisons on research.

Responsible for other clinic-related duties such as preparing for the participant visits, setting up and cleaning the exam rooms.

Entering data, performing data and equipment quality control checks.

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required. Knowledge of fundamental research concepts, practices and procedures. Entry level knowledge of research methods.

Preferred Qualifications

Phlebotomy Certification, Fluency in Spanish

Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to review and adhere to research protocols with great attention to detail.

Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.

Ability to lift containers of 50 pounds or less.
