The Asian Studies Program at Bowdoin College invites applicants for the
position of Visiting Lecturer in Japanese Language, to begin in July 1, 2022.
This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second. We
seek candidates with proficiency in English and native or near-native fluency
in Japanese; we require an M.A. in Linguistics, Foreign Language Pedagogy,
Second Language Acquisition, or related field and some teaching experience at
the college level in the United States. The successful candidate will teach at
all levels of the language curriculum, as well as contribute to the Japanese
Language Program by participating in Japanese language table, and other co-

Review of applications will begin December 17, 2021 and continue until the
position is filled. Finalists will interviewed on Zoom and will be asked to
teach a Bowdoin class over Zoom.
