    Promoting the Employment of Foreign Academic Staff at Riga Technical University

    1 position of visiting assistant professor at the Faculty of Materials Science and Applied Chemistry, study field “Chemistry, Chemical Technologies and Biotechnology” in the field of science of Chemical Engineering (2.4.), subfields of General Chemical Technology.


    Wage range 980 to 3300 Euro.

    Selection process

    When applying for the ESF funding, the following documents are required:

    An application addressed to the Rector, a CV (in the form of a Europass containing the most important publications), a document confirming employment in an accredited foreign higher education institution's academic position, as well as an attestation of the accreditation of that institution. The assessment of pedagogical skills requires an open lecture that can be organized both in person and in video format, student feedback. Applications must be sent to

    Offer Requirements Skills/Qualifications

    Requirements and selection criteria for the beneficiaries:

  • persons who have been employed in the academic position of any accredited foreign higher education institution during the previous five years and during the last 3 years delivered studies courses.
  • persons who hold a doctorate in the relevant field of science or Dr. rer. nat. and who has publications in corresponding field of science.
  • persons who can lead lectures in the study course “Chemical Reactors and Reaction Engineering” (in English);
  • persons who have an appropriate level of English language skills and knowledge in an international environment (have experience in working with foreign students or in participating in mobility activities);
  • cooperation competence - ability to cooperate, responsiveness, ability to create effective communication to ensure the achievement of goals, developed ability to argue on the basis of extensive and comprehensive information; ability to systematize, ability to choose priorities and draw up a plan, ability to implement creative and innovative solutions; ability to develop processes to achieve higher work results.
  • Specific Requirements

    Professional duty:

  • to prepare presentations (in English) for a new lecture course “Chemical Reactors and Reaction Engineering” (4.5 ECTS);
  • to deliver lectures (in English) in the study subject “Chemical Reactors and Reaction Engineering”;
  • to search literature, prepare homework and practical work questions, and lecture presentations about chemical reactors and reaction engineering;
  • to evaluate students' homework and practical works, to discuss with students on these topics;
  • to advise those students who are willing to carry out research in chemical reaction engineering;
  • conduct one experience exchange seminar on pedagogical work for the academic staff of the Faculty of Materials Science and Applied Chemistry.
