The Department of Communication & Film at the University of Memphis seeks to
fill a visiting assistant professor of communication position to teach
undergraduate classes at its Memphis campus beginning August 2022. The
accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment
to working with an inclusive student population, and their ability to
contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural academic
goals of the university.
This is a full-time, one-year, non-tenure track appointment with a
specialization in Health Communication. Responsibilities include teaching a
9-hour course load per semester, along with service functions. Instruction may
include off-campus or online courses, as needed. The course load will be lower
and upper division courses including Oral Communication, Health Communication,
and potentially courses based on expertise.
Minimum Position Qualifications
PhD in Communication Studies in hand at time of appointment is preferred
although ABD candidates close to defending their dissertation may be
considered. Demonstrated experience and excellence in teaching is required.
