The Department of Leadership Studies is pleased to announce a search for a non-tenure track position for a visiting -faculty position in the School Counseling Program. The position is a one-year appointment with the possibility of additional years depending on the program needs. . The Instructional Technology program has three areas of focus: Online Teaching and Learning, Computer Science Teaching and Learning, Multimedia Design and Development. The courses in the program are taught online using both synchronous and asynchronous approaches. The programs are aligned with K-12 teaching and learning. Program students are primarily K-12 educators, working as teachers, librarians, and administrators. The Online Teaching and Learning is approved by the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education allowing our graduates with the proper coursework and assessment score to be eligible to apply for an Online Teacher endorsement.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The position is a 9-month non-tenure track visiting appointment with the possibility of summer teaching opportunities when available. The faculty member will teach online graduate courses using both synchronous and asynchronous delivery methods. All program faculty members are expected to maintain a campus presence.

The visiting faculty member will focus on teaching the Instructional Technology students, typically teaching four classes a semester. The visiting faculty member may be provided the opportunity to advise students, collaborate on research, engage with the greater instructional technology research and education community, provide university and professional service, and be a strong advocate for the program. All program faculty members engage as a collaborative leadership team to help maintain and extend program and department visibility, as well as, assist with program coordination activities. All faculty members engage in ongoing program improvement efforts based on data, the shifting needs of the students, and requirements for preparing our students to be K-12 school instructional technology leaders. The overall goal of the program is to prepare educators to be K-12 school instructional technology leaders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required Qualifications: Candidates need to have: ● At least one advanced degree should be in instructional technology or closely related field. Must have an appropriate masters or doctorate degree; ● Work experience in K-12 schools as a teacher; ● Experience teaching K-12 educators; ● Experience with integrating technology into teaching and learning activities at the K-12 level; ● Experience working with diverse groups of students and supporting the promotion of social justice; ● Experience with working in teams and engaging in collaborative activities.

Skills Considered Essential for Success

-Knowledge of the organization and administration of higher education. -Knowledge of student development theory. -Knowledge of state, federal, and university rules, regulations, and procedures. -Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment. -Ability to compile statistics into reports. -Ability to work collaboratively and independently with common goals as a part of a team. -Ability to make sound judgments and assist in resolving student concerns. -Effective interpersonal communication, writing, and organizational abilities. -Civility in all interactions of a public or confidential nature. -Demonstrate follow-up contacts and consultations in a timely manner.

Required Education and/or Experience

The formal education of a Master's degree or doctoral degree is required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Preferred candidates will have: ● Experience with teaching courses online; ● Experience with supporting or guiding K-12 students' innovative use of technology; ● Engagement in Instructional Technology education professional organizations; ● Evidence of scholarly productivity; ● Experience with teaching at the post-secondary level.
