Visiting Assistant Professor, Counseling
The Department of Counseling, Special Education and Diversity (CSED) at the
University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications and nominations
for a faculty position at the Visiting Assistant Professor level for the
Counseling program. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the
development and growth of the counseling program, develop and teach Counseling
courses, establish an appropriate research program that leads to peer reviewed
publications, seek external funding, and provide service to the program,
university and profession. This one-year position will begin Fall 2021 and be
renewed depending on need. The Visiting Assistant Professor may apply for a
tenure-track position if one is advertised and the required qualifications are
Teach undergraduate and graduate counseling courses.
Student advisement and recruitment,
Work cooperatively with area public schools and agencies.
Participate in college and university committees and professional
organizations and performs all other duties as assigned.
1. An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited
2. Minimum of two years practical experience as a school counselor or
3. Successful university teaching experience.
4. Record of research and scholarly publications.
5. Demonstrated service.
6. Experience with diverse populations of students.
7. Texas LPC, CSC or eligibility.
8. Strong English communication skills.
Experience using an online teaching format such as Blackboard.
Experience with CACREP accreditation process.
Proficiency in written and oral Spanish.
Experience supervising counselors in school systems and agencies.
Addictions counseling background with LCDC eligibility
