Position Summary Information
Job Goal
To fully support the mission of Northeast Iowa Community College through the functions of teaching, service and scholarship. To provide effective instruction to ensure academic programming attains student learning outcomes and prepares students for successful transition into the workforce or transfer to a post-secondary institution. To carry out assigned responsibilities to ensure academic programs are sustainable and aligned with accreditation standards.
Qualifications
The successful candidate 1. Must be a certified veterinary technician from a certified veterinary technician program. 2. Must have a minimum of 3000 hours (1.5 years) of clinical experience, related animal science work experience or a combination of clinical experience and animal science work experience. 3. Must have experience working in a clinical setting with veterinary technicians or technologists. 4. Must possess excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; and the physical ability to perform veterinary duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: 1. The incumbent will possess the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to teach courses in Animal Veterinary Technology. 2. Ability to teach, demonstrate for, and mentor students veterinary technical skills. 3. Teach courses in accordance with objectives of the course outline as set forth by the department in which assigned. 4. Meet all scheduled class and office commitments as promptly as possible. 5. Assist in student advising and registration.
Essential Functions
GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves work in a variety of settings including office, classroom, outdoor lab settings with livestock and veterinary and necropsy laboratories. Frequent (34—66%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. Must be able to lift and transport a minimum of 50 pounds.
