UTS invites applications for the Educational Engagement Media Specialist position. This full-time, temporary position is responsible for leading the Children's Media & Engagement team's approach to audience interaction and engagement via multimedia platforms. With a focus on broadcast, social media and other digital platforms, this role is connected to all aspects of the production of content that reaches diverse audiences across North Carolina. The Educational Engagement Producer must be able to tailor content captured from on-the-ground community events for both adult and kid audiences, including potential donors. This role also keeps a keen eye on emerging digital and social media trends to help expand our reach and utilizes storytelling to garner support for existing initiatives intended for children, parents/caregivers and educators. Essential duties will include, but are not limited to: ● Brainstorming ideas for building a visual story that communicates the impact of our engagement work ● Partnering with key members of North Carolina's Growth and Marketing departments to help build impact stories that effectively reaches potential donors ● Attending educational engagement events to capture interviews and b-roll as needed ● Capturing and editing video for a variety of formats – vertical and horizontal – to be shared on a range of platforms: Broadcast, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. ● Serving as primary point-of-contact for external production teams contracted by the Children's Media & Engagement team ● Other duties as assigned that further the overall mission of the department

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of program culture, issues, and work relationships to address situations. Ability to share knowledge and critical thinking processes. ● Ability to maintain and enhance professional relationships to increase credibility for building support and reaching consensus when explaining and interpreting program policies and procedures within assigned area(s).
Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills • High school diploma or equivalency and 3 years of production and editing experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. • Driver's license and valid transportation required. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include occasional evenings and/or weekends, in order to meet the needs of community residents and be present at community functions • Experience developing strategies and action plans • Proficient in Microsoft Office and virtual communications platforms (i.e. Zoom, Microsoft Teams) • Proficient in Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Media Encoder • Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills • Bachelor's Degree in Film, Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or similar and/or has relevant work experience of 1-3 years directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with internal/external partners • Fluent in Spanish • A willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategies on the fly • Ability to articulate
