Offer Description

We are looking for a candidate to submit a proposal to EUtopia-SIF for a postdoctoral position (https: // eutopia-university.eu/english- version/opportunities/research/eu…)

This proposal concerns the improvement of the membranotropic properties of hydrophobic fusion peptides. These are capable of interacting with membranes through numerous interactions. Such interactions require a set of concerted conformational changes and the formation pores inside the membranes. Our hypothesis is that structuration can be induced by modifying the native sequence of the fusion peptides by introducing unique constrained amino acids. Following the insertion of the constrained residues, we then aim to acquire a better understanding of this family of peptides and subsequently use virus- derived molecular tools for drug vectorization purposes. The proposal will be developed in the BioCIS and ORCG laboratories (CYU (France) and VUB (Belgium)) in collaboration with partners providing molecular modelling, structural analyses. Microscopy studies will be undertaken to visualize how the modified peptide sequences behave in a cellular context. The postdoctoral position will be equally divided between each of the two laboratories (BioCIS and ORGC),.
