Position Overview

Position Summary

The person in this position will perform a wide range of administrative leadership functions within the department of Finance and Administration involving consultation and program administration, independently managing, overseeing, and implementing special projects to improve efficiency and streamline operations, as directed by the Vice Chancellor; the general supervision of fiscal matters; coordination of security and physical plant issues with appropriate University departments; ongoing administrative supervision and collaborative consultation with the Vice Chancellor regarding administrative functioning in the department of Finance and Administration; serve as liaison on behalf of the Vice Chancellor to various constituents within the University and department heads within Finance and Administration, providing guidance and consultation on operational plans and requirements.

This position is responsible for coordinating all job/hiring related activities for Finance and Administration as they relate to PeopleAdmin and is the repository for PeopleAdmin information for the division of Finance and Administration.

Acts as the primary contact for the Board of Trustees for Finance and Administration, including but not limited to overseeing and coordinating all committee meetings; preparing board minutes; organizing and maintaining records of ordinances, resolutions, orders, minutes, and other board-related documents; interface with board members on sensitive and confidential issues; and upload all board-related documents to Passageways in preparation for meetings.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Finance and Administration Division provides campus wide administrative and fiscal services in support of the university's primary mission of instruction and public service. The functions of recording financial transactions, safeguarding physical and financial assets, allocation of resources, procurement and delivery of basic university services are handled by the division. This is accomplished through the Departments of: Accounting, Budget and Analysis, Auxiliary/Business Services, Contracts and Grants, Facilities Management, Purchasing, and Systems Accounting along with appropriate financial and administrative systems. The division provides financial information to senior management, UNC Systems Office, external supporters and the Board of Trustees to facilitate compliance and informed decision making.
