Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

Fayetteville State University (FSU), a public comprehensive, Historically Black University, offers robust and innovative degree programs rooted in the liberal arts tradition. FSU's Office of Strategic Communication ( OSC) is housed within the Office of the Chancellor. The OSC is comprised of public media relations, crisis management, marketing, creative services, and special events. The OSC is charged with planning, creating, and implementing communication strategies to engage target audiences to include prospective students, current students, families of prospective and current students, faculty and staff, donors, partners, decision-makers, and the media. The purpose of the engagement is to increase enrollment, partnerships, support, and financial contributions, per FSU's strategic plan. The Director of Marketing will oversee the university's website, to include launching a redesign, continuous edits, and continuing innovations to meet best practices. The Director of Marketing will also oversee the university's traditional and digital advertising.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The University Program Specialist (Director of Marketing) will oversee the university's website, to include launching a redesign and continuing innovations to meet best practices. The Director of Marketing will also oversee the university's traditional and digital advertising, working to centralize all advertising across the university within the OSC.

The Director of Marketing will report to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Creative Services and will collaborate with the colleagues within the OSC and across the university to develop a strategic plan and budget for the ongoing innovation of the website and for the university's advertising to align with FSU's strategic plan. The Director of Marketing will supervise staff, contractors, and vendors to accomplish this work.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment
  • or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
  • Knowledge skills and abilities: Preferred Qualifications:

    Master's Degree in Journalism, Communications or Business with 3-5 years' experience or Bachelor's Degree with 5-7 years' experience. Candidate should have experience developing and working with marketing plans, setting and achieving metrics-supported goals and working with marketing data.
