The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodetic Science invites applications for the following position within salary scale W2 of the Lower Saxony salary system (NBesO) with tenure track leading to salary scale W3 NBesO to be appointed at the earliest possible date: University Professorship (m/f/d) in Structural Analysis and Dynamics
The position is limited to 5 years. Following a positive evaluation, the candidate will receive a tenured professorship (salary scale W3 NBesO).
The Position
This position covers a core area of research and teaching in civil engineering at Leibniz Universität Hannover. Applicants are expected to represent the research field of structural analysis and dynamics on an internationally visible level. The focus of basic and applied research should be on structural engineering. In particular, the successful applicant is expected to contribute on both theoretical and experimental work with emphasis on design and monitoring of load-bearing structures in operation and on ensuring their functionality throughout their entire life cycle. The activities of the professorship should be compatible with the core research areas of the faculty. As a key condition, active participation in the faculty's wind energy research activities as well as enthusiastic and substantial contribution to the current Collaborative Research Centre (SFB) 1463 "Integrated Design and Operation Methodology for Offshore Megastructures" are expected.
In terms of research-oriented teaching, the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching the subject "Structural Analysis and Dynamics" in the Faculty's Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The future holder of the position is expected to give lectures in English.
The professorship is integrated into Hannover's large experimental test centre facility for Support Structures (Testzentrum Tragstrukturen Hannover – TTH). This provides broad access opportunities to excellent experimental equipment, which opens up a wide range of cooperation opportunities in basic and applied research.
We are looking for an individual who is visible in the international scientific community in the field; who has a clear ambition to basic research relevant to be funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG); and who has the desire to expand their own experience in experimental research in the near future. Scientific excellence should be proven by relevant publications, successful acquisition of third-party funding or comparable achievements.
