The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics invites applications for the following position of Salary Scale W2 NBesO starting as soon as possible: University Professorship (m/f/d) in Quantum Simulation

The Position

  • is associated with the Institute of Quantum Optics and the QUEST Leibniz Research School as well as the Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers.
  • encompasses basic experimental research of quantum correlated many-body systems with ultracold atoms and molecules with applications in quantum simulation and quantum metrology at the interface between atomic physics, solid state physics and quantum technologies.
  • contributes to the scientific programme of existing and future coordinated research projects such as the SFB DQ- mat and the Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers.
  • contributes to the teaching of the BSc/MSc Physics, MSc Optical Technologies, BSc/Msc Nanotechnology and the new MSc Quantum Engineering programmes, as well as to graduate schools and the QuantumFrontiers International Research School.
  • The Profile

  • Internationally visible research profile with relevant publications in the field of experimental quantum optics with ultracold atoms.
  • Experience in leading a research group and successful acquisition of third-party funding. Experience with coordinated research projects such as graduate schools, collaborative research centres or clusters of excellence.
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with research groups at the institutions involved in QuantumFrontiers and beyond.
  • Ability to teach courses in English.
