    University Professor - salary grade W3 for the department of "Spatial Planning and Regional Development”. Working field:

    The professorship represents spatial planning and regional development in research and teaching. It deals methodically and empirically with the social foundations, framework conditions, control options and instruments of spatial planning and regional development. In particular, the following four topics are in the focus of the research and teaching of this professorship:

  • Climate change, energy transition, and digitalization in the region
  • Risk and resilience research in regional development
  • Intermunicipal cooperation
  • Transnational and European territorial collaboration
  • Teaching tasks are performed in the Urban and Regional Planning degree programs in German and English. The position holder is further required to undertake additional teaching tasks within Faculty VI as well as perform in duties relating to academic self-administration.

    Further responsibilities include leading and managing the department and its staff; supporting the advancement of junior scholars, women, and social diversity; knowledge and technology transfer; initiatives to promote internationalization; gender and diversity competence, and sustainability- oriented action; as well as committee and commission work.

    Requirements:

    Pursuant to Section 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG), the hiring requirements for this professorship include a university degree in urban and regional planning, geography, architecture, or a comparable discipline with particular relevance to regional and national planning and spatial science; a strong aptitude for scientific work (as a rule demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate); additional academic achievements; as well as an aptitude for teaching documented in a teaching portfolio (for further details, please refer to the website of Technische Universität Berlin, https: // www. tu.berlin/go209650/)

    Applicants are expected to have outstanding knowledge of at least three of the four above subject areas. In addition to scientific excellence, you also have professional practical experience in the context of spatial planning and regional development and have established relationships with the relevant associations and public partners from municipal to European level. Experience of project-oriented teaching is desired.

    Technische Universität Berlin requires professors to be able to assume responsibility for the management and strategic development of their department and staff. In particular, this includes an understanding of the special responsibility of creating gender and diversity-sensitive work and study conditions. The position also requires the ability to advance junior scholars, women, and social diversity as well as contribute to academic self- governance. The ability to provide new ideas for internationalization and sustainability-oriented action in research and teaching is expected. Experience of initiatives in science communication as well as knowledge and technology transfer is desirable.
