Offer Description
The Director of the International Centre for the Theory of Quantum
Technologies, under the authority of the Rector of the University of Gdansk,
announces a competition for the position of university professor in the
research staff group at the International Centre for the Theory of Quantum
Technologies of the University of Gdansk.
The competition is open to persons who meet the requirements set out in the
Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of
2018, item 1668, as amended) and the Statute of the University of Gdańsk of
13 June 2019.
The research topics practiced by the candidate must be in accordance with the
Research Agenda of the International Center for Quantum Theory of Technology
and fall within one of the following subject areas:
Quantum information theory: quantum cryptography, entangled states and
their detection, measures of entanglement, quantum information processing,
quantum channels and superchannels, quantum coding, quantum resource
theory, superadditivity of quantum resources;
Energy transfer in quantum systems: quantum batteries and associated
systems;
Foundations of quantum mechanics vs. information theory: Bell's
inequalities, quantum randomness, cryptographic security in post-quantum
attacks, quantum contextuality with graph theory, quantum and post-quantum
communication complexity;
Relativistic information theory: causal propagation and processing of
quantum and post-quantum information.
Primary responsibilities:
Conducting highly specialized scientific research in the discipline of
physical sciences related to the topics of the ICTQT research agenda.
Disseminating the results of scientific activities, particularly in the
form of scientific articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals
Acquisition and implementation of research and R&D projects financed from
external sources, including the budget of the European Union, the National
Science Center, the National Center for Research and Development or the
Polish Science Foundation;
Performing, through the University, research services on behalf of
entities not belonging to the system of higher education and science;
Participating in the education of doctoral students, in particular,
participating in the University's mid-term evaluation of the doctoral
student's implementation of the individual research plan, conducting
examinations or other forms of verification of the assumed learning
outcomes, and supervising study circles;
Performing organizational tasks in accordance with established
responsibilities.

Skills/Qualifications
The candidate for the position should:
Hold a D.Sc degree in the discipline of Physical Sciences;
Have a proven record of original scientific achievements confirming
competence in quantum information theory, fundamentals of quantum
mechanics, energy transfer in quantum systems or relativistic information
theory;
Have experience in leading research teams or directing scientific projects
(including experience in the implementation of scientific research grants
as a project manager);
Demonstrate their scientific activity at least in organized international
and national conferences, seminars and symposia;
Be fluent in spoken and written English.
Additional strengths of the candidate will be:
Excellent publication record with at least 10 articles as lead author;
H-index (according to Scopus database) of 12 or more;
Experience in implementing projects in collaboration with a foreign
scientific partner;
Experience in professional work in foreign scientific centers.

Scientific curriculum vitae (including: a list of scientific
publications, internships in domestic and foreign centers, awards and
scholarships received, speeches at conferences (along with the form of
presentation), information on participation in research projects financed
from various sources with an indication of the role in these projects,
description of teaching and popularization experience, description of
organizational activities, other relevant information).
A copy of the diploma for D.Sc degree in the discipline of Physical
Sciences.

Additional comments
The Competition Committee reserves the right to contact selected
candidates.
The competition procedure includes an interview. It is permissible to
conduct the interview remotely.
Failure to submit a complete set of documents by the deadline will be
grounds for rejection of the interested party's candidacy without a call
to supplement the deficiencies.
The documents submitted by the candidates will not be returned.
Settlement of the competition will be made within a period not exceeding 2
months from the date of announcement of the competition. 6. The settlement
is final and cannot be appealed.
The Competition Commission reserves the right to close the competition
without selecting a candidate.
The competition is the first stage of the employment procedure for the
position of academic teacher specified in the Statute of the University of
Gdansk, and its positive resolution is the basis for further proceedings.
Accordingly, the decision on employment will be made in accordance with
the procedure set forth in Article 117 of the Law of July 20, 2018. Law on
Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668, as
amended).
