We are looking for a candidate with proven scientific expertise who will represent the field of “Data Science” in research and teaching.
The candidate will have extensive experience in interdisciplinary research, applying either theories and models from the application domain to the design of software, or computer science approaches to phenomena in the application domain. Possible areas of interest include cognitive science, cognitive computing, computational psychology, computational social sciences, social network analysis, user modeling, intelligent user interfaces, and decision support systems.
The successful applicant will play a central role in expanding our interdisciplinary collaboration with business, psychology, sociology, and law at the University of Graz. Graz University of Technology and the University of Graz run a joint interdisciplinary program "Computational Social Systems". The candidate is expected to contribute to the coordination and strengthening of these teaching initiatives.
The new professor will be part of the Institute for Interactive Systems and Data Science (isds.tugraz.at). The Institute of Interactive Systems & Data Science (ISDS) combines research on cutting-edge technology for interactive systems with the collection, storage, visualization, and analysis of data. With >100 researchers and 15 research groups, the institute brides the two research areas, and provides high-quality teaching.
The successful candidate will complement the existing strengths in the department, will build an internationally visible group, will be an engaged teacher in the Computer Science programs at the Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD level, and will actively participate in academic self-administration.
At the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering undergraduate courses are taught in German or English, graduate courses are taught in English.Requirements
