  • With 27 teaching subjects and over 12,000 student teachers, the University of Vienna is the largest teacher training institution in Austria. At the Center for Teacher Education (ZLB), we are working to bundle and further develop the various initiatives to improve the quality of teacher education. Together with the faculties and centres involved in teacher education and the universities of teacher education within the North-East Network, future teachers are prepared for the changing needs of a modern school and are enabled to contribute to shaping the learning and living environment of schools on the basis of scientific expertise. We are looking for a dedicated scientific staff member (prae doc) for the research group Educational Sciences / Digitalisation in Education. Digitalisation makes it necessary for every university graduate to acquire basic computer science skills and for computer science students to acquire a basic understanding of human, social, legal and ethical issues. In order to jointly shape digitisation, our students as well as teachers must acquire competences that enable sustainable interdisciplinary cooperation. To this end, the "Teaching Digital Thinking" project is developing an Austria-wide concept for training students in basic IT knowledge and computational thinking as well as prototypes for the transformation of digital skills into curricula. The universities are thereby contributing to the major social and economic challenges of the digital transformation of the 21st century.

Your work is directly connected to the project "Teaching Digital Thinking". You will support the design of a MOOC and courses on digitalisation from a sociological, didactic, technological and scientific perspective. You are able to understand technology-supported forms of teaching and learning and to evaluate their effects and outcomes scientifically using mixed methods approaches. In doing so, your focus will lie on university didactics as well as school teaching. Your tasks/responsibilities: - Active participation in research and teaching (due to the collective bargaining agreement) - Supporting and designing scientific studies - International publications and presentations - Supervision of students Your work is directly connected to the project "Teaching Digital Thinking".
