    University Assistant (must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree) for a full-time, two-year position (can be extended) at the Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology, Department of Physiology

    The Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology has a vacancy for a scientific assistant with Doctorate/Ph.D. (Post-Doc) starting 01.07.2022. The position is initially limited to 2 years, with perspective for temporary extension. In this context, independent research projects are to be supervised, with perspective of habilitation. We offer a responsible, varied and independent field of activity in a motivated team, which can be shaped by own ideas and commitment. The research work focuses on mechanisms and signalling pathways in premature cardiovascular aging and vascular calcification. Methodological focus includes: molecular and cell biology, in vivo and ex vivo methods, translational studies in human samples. The current position includes a teaching commitment of 4 semester hours per week within the education at the medical faculty of JKU.

    Job Duties:

  • Independent supervision of research projects, including planning, methodological implementation, analysis and interpretation of experimental approaches
  • Development of an independent research profile
  • Supervision of Ph.D. students in the research field and supervision of Bachelor and Master theses
  • Collaboration in teaching
  • Participation in infrastructural and organizational tasks
  • Your Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree in natural sciences, medicine or related subjects
  • High motivation in the field of research and in building up an independent research profile
  • Methodological experience and independent work with cell culture and/or in vivo/ex vivo models
  • Substantial publication record and experience with scientific presentations. Prior experience with external funding applications is an advantage
  • Independent, well-structured work style with excellent communication skills. Ability to work in a team and enjoy working in an international team
  • Strong command of German (level C1) and English (B2), both oral and written
