University Assistant/Associate Professor in Quantum Engineering

Applications are invited for a University Assistant/Associate Professor in Quantum Engineering. The successful candidate will join the Engineering Department's Electrical Engineering Division to add to its broad expertise in quantum engineering, which spans from fundamental work on materials, devices and fabrication through to applications.

Epochal innovations come to life through knowledge-driven research, and quantum engineering is on the verge of unlocking the power of counterintuitive concepts of superposition and entanglement to create new possibilities in the way we gather, process, distribute and quantify information that are more powerful and secure than existing technologies. We are looking for applicants who will address the engineering challenges associated with bringing the potential of quantum physics to commercial reality in fields such as quantum photonic or electronic integrated circuits, quantum sensors, or sub-systems for the quantum internet.

In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a small supplement to the salary range stated for this role for a five-year period. Any such supplement would be awarded on the basis of a demonstrable history of exceptional achievement and is entirely at the discretion of the University.

We particularly welcome applications from women and /or candidates from a BME background for this vacancy as they are currently under-represented at this level in our department.
