Undergraduate Assistant (m/f/d) in the field of study Computer science,
mathematics, engineering, data science, physics or comparable

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials
research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in
technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials
science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products
and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad
array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment,
materials, and analytical sciences.

Your responsibilities include:
As part of a publicly funded research project, you will be part of a research
team developing a method for automated ultrasonic testing of turbine blades.
Your focus is on the implementation and optimisation of imaging and image-
processing computer algorithms.
Implementation and analysis of different algorithms for the acquisition of
complex surfaces from reconstructed images
Scaling and optimisation of data streams and data processing algorithms
If applicable, use of Machine-Learning for feature classification
Visualisation of the results in 3D models
Your qualifications:
Student of one of the above-mentioned fields of study or comparable
Excellent programming skills in Matlab, Python or comparable
Experience in the efficient processing of bigger two- and multi-
dimensional data matrices would be an advantage
Basic knowledge of wave or ultrasound physics is an advantage
Largely independent, careful way of working, high level of commitment
Language skills: good knowledge of German or English
