Position Summary:

This course provides an introduction to cybercrime as defined by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. It will incorporate an introduction to the United Nations Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, its application, and ramifications. Students will study cybercrime as a growing, global problem from a theoretical and practical perspective. Topics may include legal and conceptual frameworks, digital forensics, and technical cybercrime investigations. This course curriculum was developed in partnership with the UNODC.

NOTE: This is a quarter credit class that is offered during the second six weeks of the Fall 2021 semester. CTF instructors of quarter credit classes will receive 50 percent of the reimbursement that would be received for a half credit class.

Qualifications – Required: Master's Degree

Qualifications - Other: MA in Criminology, Sociology, or a related discipline; PhD or PhD in progress preferred. Work and/or research experience relating to the substantive area of cybercrime is considered an asset, as is prior teaching experience.

Salary: Online learning stipend $2,592.00 plus an additional $32.50 for each student in excess of 25.

    Courses created specifically for online instruction have been collaboratively designed by a content expert (normally a faculty member) and an instructional designer and digital media and educational technology specialists. Online course development is guided by instructional design strategies and makes use of pedagogically led technology. Online courses are intentionally developed for instructors and students to be separated by space (location) and/or time (often both).

    Remote instruction, as the term is used here, uses technology-enabled tools and software to facilitate course delivery when in-person instruction is not possible in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. "Remote" instruction is not directly comparable to "online course" instruction. The difference is not in the quality of the content, but in the design of content delivery.

    In-person fall teaching will be supported by classroom safety and hygiene protocols aligned with public health guidelines in effect at the time and will adhere to any COVID-19 related university policies including the COVID-19 face covering policy.
