Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a full-time Physician Specialist I for the South Woods State Correctional Facility, located in Bridgeton, New Jersey. Under the direction of the Medical and Health Services Director, the Physician Specialist I is responsible for providing medical services to inmates of the Department of Corrections, which are consistent with community standards of care. This position serves as a liaison for clinical matters with medical providers outside of the system and be available to provide on-call services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: Serves as the Medical Director of the site and supervises other Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners at the site. Reports to the assigned state prison at designated hour to examine referred patients. Provides emergency care, routine medical care, preventive medical care and education to patients. Assures implementation and ongoing status of on-site chronic clinics. Refers patients to appropriate Physician consults. Prescribes medications from the formulary for the inmate's healthcare needs.

Minimum Education and Experience
Experienced in a primary care specialty.
Licensed physician in the State of New Jersey. DEA and CDS Certified Board certified, eligible, or qualified by the state laws/regulations to practice medicine. Valid Driver's License is required.
