Department of Geography, UNT: We are a diverse, interdisciplinary, and collaborative department. Our faculty comprises of 14 members from 7 countries with expertise in: Earth Science & Modeling; Globalization, Development & Cities; Human Systems & the Environment; and GIS & Remote Sensing. We are located in the Enivronmental Education, Science, and Technology (EESAT) building along with environmental scientists and environmental philosophers as well as the Elm Fork Education Center.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking an FAA certified remote pilot to join our research team for the summer. The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting unmanned aircraft flights under part 107, a few times per week throughout the summer. The position will include preparation, actual flight, and commute time.

In addition to conducting the flights, the research assistant will be responsible for assisting with acquiring FAA approval, flight preparation, and supervising one or two undergraduate students who may serve as flight observers. The flight area is conveniently located just 15 minutes away from the UNT campus. The ideal candidate must possess a valid driver's license and FAA remote pilot certificate, and will be available in the summer.
