JOB PURPOSE
Midwestern Baptist takes great pride in our campus and our facilities. The Turf Crew is responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding our main campus buildings and our housing areas. Plant flowers, mow, trim, and snow removal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform grounds keeping duties
Complete preventative maintenance on landscaping equipment
Cut lawn using hand, power, or riding mowers, trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls
Trim trees to maintain proper growth or to eliminate a danger threat
Plant and maintain ornamental grasses and flowers on a seasonal basis
Trim and weed multiple flower beds and containers
Maintain clean work environment
Shovel snow and apply ice treatment to provide safe environment for staff, visitors, and students
Remove unsightly trash and debris from public areas by regularly inspecting grounds
Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Christian with high integrity, actively pursuing a relationship with God
High school diploma or equivalent
Familiar with common landscaping equipment and tools
Positive attitude
Self-starter with a desire and willingness to learn
Must hold a valid driver's license
Able to pass background screening, including driving record
Eligible to work in the United States
Strong attention to detail
Communicate with people on campus in a professional manner; must be professional and personable
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Must be a team player and committed to working in a quality environment
WORKING CONDITIONS
Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, some evening or weekend schedules may be required
Outdoor, may be required to work in extreme weather conditions
Average 20 hours per week, no more than 29 hours per week
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to operate small and large power equipment
The work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and shoveling.
Must be able to push, pull, lift or move a minimum of 50 pounds
Able to sit, stand, walk, or kneel for prolonged periods of time
