TRIO Programs were established to support the nation's commitment to provide educational opportunity for all Americans to enter college, graduate and move on to participate more fully in realizing the “American Economic and Social Dream.”

The Upward Bound Counselor is responsible for the supervision and safety of high school students enrolled in the program. The Counselor's responsibilities include: supervision of students throughout the work week (Sunday through Thursday), monitoring tutorial sessions, managing student behavioral issues, monitor students' curfews, promoting college as the next step after high school, and other duties assigned that aid in the overall goals of the Upward Bound Program. This position will require in person interaction with 60-70 high school students living in a residence hall.

Work Schedule June 14, 2023 - July 28, 2023: Sunday through Thursday, 24 hour responsibility

Must be mature with the ability to supervise and direct high school students.

Department Required Skills

Must serve as a positive role model for students and have proven ability in establishing rapport with students and staff while encouraging the importance of cooperation and a positive attitude.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

College seniors, graduate students, former and current teachers, counselors as well as TRIO alumni are strongly encouraged to apply.
