Position TitleTRIO Upward Bound Math and Science Tutor The Opportunity
Tutors play a critical role in the Upward Bound Math and Science program. They are one of the primary contacts for our high school participants and work with them to prepare them for college and excel in their current courses. Tutors spend up to five days a week in Alameda High School, assisting students in various high school subjects, especially math and science. Tutors are responsible for providing individual and group tutorial sessions. They work to reinforce classroom instruction, encourage academic progress and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning. The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday. In addition, tutors will be required to attend a staff meetings. Upward Bound also offers individualized tutoring sessions at other times that best meet our participant needs (some weekends, mornings and evenings).
