Position Title: Training Specialist Position Type: Staff Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Work Schedule: full-time/12-months Avg Hours Week Department: 709 - Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Position Summary:

The Training Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Education and Training and is primarily responsible for improving diversity awareness and DEI competence of the Villanova community. This position will work with the Assistant Director to deliver training initiatives and arrange suitable training solutions. Specifically, this position facilitates the Advancing Equity and Justice Curriculum, Hiring for Villanova's Future and Community is a Verb. This position actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate, enhance, and recognize performance across all levels of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the Education and Training Curriculum utilizing interactive and dynamic facilitation.
  • Maintain the integrity and implementation of the Advancing Equity and Justice Curriculum through integrating best practices and leading research.
  • Coordinate the necessary functions of planning, organizing and resourcing diversity and inclusion development and training events.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources (HR) Training Director on mutually beneficial projects.
  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum requirements:

  • Formal Education: Bachelors Degree
  • Work Experience: At least 5 years of experience in higher education (or like environment) managing programs in a related position in fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Training experience:

  • At least 4 years of experience as a trainer or educator
  • Experience in public speaking
  • Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)

  • Must be able to communicate and facilitate conversation across difference
  • Must feel comfortable collaborating with diverse points of view
  • Must be able to build relationships with campus partners
  • Must be able to speak publicly and engage audience participants
  • The individual must have a deep commitment to the well-being of the Villanova University, a commitment to the University's Catholic/Augustinian heritage, and the advancement of its mission, and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
  • Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)

  • Must have understanding of frameworks, current trends, and research in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Must have knowledge of training and workshop design and content creation
  • Must have knowledge of using multiple learning mediums
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    Preferred qualifications:

    Formal Education

  • Master's degree preferred, with desired emphasis on fields related to diversity and inclusion.
  • At least 2-4 years of experience in higher education (or like environment) managing programs in a related position in fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Training experience:

  • At least 2-4 years of experience as a trainer or educator
  • Experience in public speaking
  • Work Experience

  • Preferred current position in DEI Training and Education role
  • Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)
  • Preferred ability to work with adult learners
  • Preferred second language
  • Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)

  • Understanding of integrating Trauma-Informed Practices and Restorative Justice/Healing into practice
  • Work with faculty in an academic setting
