Student status is required to be eligible for Summer Bridge Success Coach. You must be a graduate of Wilson Early College High School. Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Limited to working the following hours per week:

Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.; Monday – Thursday (9 days); May 25th - June 8th.

In compliance with House Bill 558 passed during the 76th Legislative session, Lamar State College-Port Arthur requires that all male U.S. citizens from 18 to 26 years of age provide proof of registration with the Selective System or exemption from such registration, prior to employment.

Job Summary

The Title V Summer Bridge Student Success Coach (SBSSC) reports to the Director of the Excelencia Center. The SBSSC will assist the Summer Bridge facilitators during the student's sessions. The SBSSC will assist with transitioning students and assisting in the classroom throughout the Summer Bridge program. The SBSSC will provide encouragement, skills, and perspective of being an alumnus of an Early College High School. Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.; Monday – Thursday (9 days) Monday – Thursday; May 25th – June 8th Essential Job Functions: Provide assistances to students participating in the Summer Bridge program. Serve as a role model for students. Assist faculty facilitators during the summer sessions as needed. Communicate effectively with students and program staff. Perform other appropriate duties related to Title V grant goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree; Must be a recent graduate of Wilson Early College High School. Must have experience as a peer mentor or experience with a Summer Bridge programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to deal with students, faculty and staff in a professional manner. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others. Ability to promote a positive campus image. Ability to follow established college policies and procedures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly carry up to 25 pounds, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Salary $12.00 per hour Work Hours 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.; Monday – Thursday (9 days)
