The SSS Summer Institute is a four-week virtual program designed to connect incoming first-year students with a holistic support network and prepare them for a successful transition into college. The role of the instructor is to facilitate discussions and workshops to support students' academic and personal preparation for college and career exploration. The instructor will utilize Zoom to deliver virtual discussion and workshops that will allow students to discuss and engage.

Minimum Education and Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience providing college-level workshops; experience providing career and college readiness workshops; Strong written/verbal communication skills; Demonstrated competency to effectively interact with individuals from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds; Experience in the use of technology to deliver instruction and accomplish data entry/word-processing tasks (e.g. Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Office-Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Ability to work independently and multi- task; Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential information with discretion and according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines.

Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded TRIO program designed to empower undergraduate students to persist through college, maintain good academic standing, and graduate on time. The SSS Staff provides interactive coaching, workshops, and activities to promote student development in academics, financial literacy, and career readiness. This program is part of the Educational Equity Group in the Division of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement.
