Working Title The Center (CMI) Tutor, Fall 2023: English Department 320200-Center for Multiculturalism and Inclusivity Pay Rate 12.75 Position Number S99111 Special Instructions to Applicants:

Student tutors provide academic support in a variety of courses and disciplines. Tutors help students with homework, model strong academic skills, provide study support, and help students figure out their own learning styles and strategies. Tutors may meet with students in individual or small group settings. Tutors are made available in person in The Multicultural Center, Union Room 304.

Math tutors support students taking english courses at UCM. Qualified applicants will have successfully completed english courses at UCM, maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and demonstrate an interest in helping their fellow students learn. At minimum, an applicant should have passed ENGL1000, ENGL1020, ENGL1021, or ENGL1080 with an A.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Support, encourage, and mentor students
  • Practice active listening & questioning strategies
  • Model strong problem-solving and mathematical skills
  • Create opportunities for students to demonstrate their math understanding
  • Review and provide feedback to student work
  • Log information about student visits
  • Proactively engage with students in the Center.

    The Center for Multiculturalism & Inclusivity student tutors provide academic support in a variety of courses and disciplines. Tutors meet with students in the Center, Room 304& 306. English tutors support students taking math courses at UCM. Qualified applicants will have successfully completed english courses at UCM, maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and demonstrate an interest in helping their fellow students learn.
