The Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University, New Brunswick is seeking outstanding candidates to serve as the first Director of the Rutgers University Child Study Center. The inaugural Director will be responsible for shaping the mission, organizational structure, and operational processes of the Center. The selected candidate will also have protected time to pursue their independent research agenda. As envisioned, the Center will be an interdisciplinary research and training institute located on the Busch Campus of Rutgers University and draw from multiple University campuses and units to build a leading producer of mental health research and evidence-based health care professionals. The Center will enjoy close working relationships with Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/New Jersey Medical School, and the newly established $30 million Brandt Behavioral Health Treatment Center and Residence.

"The envisioned mission of the Center spans the translational continuum and includes:

Developing, implementing, and evaluating theory-driven intervention and prevention programs and services for target populations and communities.

Collaborative research paradigms with community systems and organizations (e.g., schools, community centers, state health departments) would be emphasized.

Providing educational and training experiences to Rutgers undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-baccalaureates, post-doctoral fellows, paraprofessionals, and professionals interested in improving the lives of youth, caregivers, and families.

Contributing to the dialogue around public policies that impact child and adolescent mental health.

The Center's location at Rutgers University and direct link to Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care provides opportunities to collaborate with faculty across the university's diverse academic units, schools, teaching hospitals and campuses."

The ideal candidate will be a clinician-scientist with a successful grant history, a vision for the field of child and adolescent mental health research and training, and a history of administrative leadership. Applicants must have a doctoral degree with a demonstrated ability to lead an externally funded research program with an orientation towards applied research. A successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active, extramurally funded research program and to oversee the administrative, academic, and training missions of the Center. The selected candidate will also have protected time to pursue their independent research agenda. Faculty rank is open and commensurate with candidate experience.
