THE DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING AT VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY is seeking candidates for a T/TK faculty position. Successful candidates are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and develop vigorous programs of externally funded research. Areas of focus are: (1) High-performance electronic devices and circuits, (2) Photonic devices and circuits , and (3) Devices and circuits related to quantum information processing. The successful candidate will build research programs that emphasize the use of these technologies in harsh environments and build on departmental strengths associated with the Institute for Space and Defense Electronics (ISDE), the Vanderbilt Radiation Effects and Reliability (RER) Group, and the Vanderbilt Institute for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (VINSE). These programs have research expenditures totaling over $5-6 M/year focused on effects in harsh environments. Of recent note are 1) an AFOSR-sponsored Radiation Effects Center of Excellence , 2) an NSF-sponsored IUCRC ( Electronic-Photonic Integrated Circuits for Aerospace) , and a DoD-sponsored Workforce Development Program focused on attracting and training undergraduates for employment (or pursuit of a graduate degree) in the Risk, Reliability, and Resiliency area.

ISDE is a unique national asset, established specifically to perform fundamental and applied research covering a broad range of topics from fundamental atomic/radiation transport/semiconductor physics to circuit design/analysis and system level modeling techniques. The RER group and ISDE combine to form the world's largest university-based program in radiation effects in microelectronics. ECE faculty in VINSE carry out research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and have broad expertise spanning nanophotonics, nanoelectronics, and nanomaterials. The successful candidate will have access to an array of commercial and custom software for analyzing and designing microelectronic and photonic devices and integrated circuits and for simulating radiation effects. Existing research programs are supported by an extensive suite of electrical and optical test and characterization equipment for traditional and radiation-effects analysis.
