All About You

Saint Louis University, a Catholic Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, seeks applicants for a tenure- track Assistant Professor of Theatre to teach/coordinate undergraduate Introduction to Theatre courses for the major and non-major, as well as other areas of expertise, such as Diversity in Theatre, Community-Engaged Theatre, Social and Applied Theatre, and/or Theatre & Dance History. Expertise in the intersection of Theatre and Social Justice and the ability to direct a mainstage production annually preferred. Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal Degree (MFA or PhD) by time of appointment from an accredited college or university.
  • Record of professional experience and/or scholarship in keeping with expectations to achieve tenure.
  • Directing experience obtained through coursework or work experience in an academic or professional environment.
  • Proven ability to work with students at different skill and developmental levels.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, public, and University community with an appreciation for cultural and group differences.
  • Evidence of successfully promoting an environment that advances justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with non-majors.
  • Experience in teaching one of the following areas:acting, musical theatre, directing, film and video production, and/or playwriting.
  • Experience working in professional theatre.
