The Department of Geography and Spatial Sciences (GSS) in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment of the University of Delaware seeks a tenure- track Assistant Professor in Climate and Atmospheric Sciences to support our graduate program in Climatology and our undergraduate program in Meteorology and Climate Science. We seek exceptional individuals eager to work in an interdisciplinary research environment who wish to become leaders in their fields while engaging in high-quality teaching and mentoring of diverse students. Applicants are expected to show significant potential to develop a nationally and internationally recognized funded research program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in synoptic-dynamic meteorology with preference for scholars who have complementarities with existing faculty strengths, such as numerical modeling, land surface- atmosphere interactions, and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies in climate science, although any specialties are welcome to apply. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching within our Meteorology/Climate Science programs, especially courses such as synoptic-dynamic meteorology, climate and climate change, atmospheric physics and thermodynamics, and AI methodologies in atmospheric science.

GSS offers six undergraduate majors (Meteorology and Climate Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geography, Geography Education, and GIScience and Environmental Data Analytics), four graduate degree programs (Climatology PhD; Geography MA, MS, and PhD), along with several undergraduate minors and graduate certificates. GSS is home to a vibrant student population of 300 undergraduate and 30 graduate students. Founded in 1743, the University of Delaware (www. udel.edu) combines tradition and innovation.
