Job Summary/Basic Function

The Psychology Department of Millersville University invites applications from individuals who are student-focused and collaborative, for a full-time, tenure-track position with specialization in clinical or counseling psychology beginning August 2024. The candidate hired will have the opportunity to contribute to both our undergraduate program as well as our growing master's program in Clinical Psychology through curriculum development, community partnerships, leadership opportunities, and the supervision and training of future clinicians. Recent graduates of the Clinical Psychology program have entered the workforce in community settings, private practice, and research hospitals or have pursued doctoral degrees in clinical, counseling, or community psychology. A priority at MU is faculty commitment to serving diverse populations and enhancing students' diversity, equity, and inclusion competency through teaching, research, clinical training, and/or service. Thus, the qualified applicant must demonstrate an alignment with this mission.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in clinically related areas and graduate courses such as psychotherapy, group therapy, psychopathology, assessment, and other clinically focused courses (including supervision of students in clinical and practicum assessment courses). Preference for candidates with a CBT orientation and experience with evidenced-based practices in areas not currently emphasized in our program including but not limited to third wave behavioral psychotherapies, severe psychopathology, trauma, gerontology, or the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents. Requires a Master's degree plus ABD in Clinical/Counseling Psychology at an APA approved doctoral program.

The successful candidate will be joining a department of faculty who employ diverse pedagogies and are committed to providing our students high quality, collaborative learning opportunities through innovative courses, student- faculty research experiences, and community-based internships. As such, we are seeking candidates with evidence of a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and/or the potential to be excellent teachers and mentors in scholarship and service. Scholarship includes a range of activities such as peer-reviewed publications and presentations, research and program-related projects, the development of experimental programs, offices held in professional organizations, grant acquisitions, consultantships, innovations in teaching, advising and/or initiatives that enhance student success, obtaining or maintaining professional licensure/certification relevant to one's discipline, teaching related professional develop, and other activities.

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications as well as aligned with the details contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Millersville University Promotion Statement.

Minimum qualifications required to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate include having an earned doctorate and a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience (or its equivalent) and scholarship commensurate with this rank.

    Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree plus ABD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited Ph.D. or Psy.D. program.
  • Must have Doctorate by November 1, 2024. An official transcript must be submitted as proof of completion. (In the event that the doctorate is not completed by the specified date, the faculty contract will be terminated effective as of the end of the second year of employment.)
  • Eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania.
  • Knowledge and skills to teach graduate courses in clinical psychology, including psychotherapy, assessment, group therapy, psychopathology, and other clinically relevant courses (including supervision of students in clinical courses).

    Supervise interns, practicum students and graduate assistants as well as thesis and dissertations as needed as well as other reasonable duties assigned within the faculty member's field of competence.     The Psychology Department offers an undergraduate program in psychology and graduate programs in clinical psychology, school psychology, and school counseling.     Essential Functions

    Working Conditions/Physical Effort

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/classroom environment.
  • Teach courses face-to-face at the higher education level using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, using online tools and/or equipment and/or other appropriate tools appropriate modes of education delivery.
