Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant, for the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Temporary Research Assistant performs biomedical research activities. Performs common lab techniques and procedures as well as work on specific studies.

Among the key duties of this position are the following;

  • Helps with ongoing lab activities and performs assays including western blotting, cell culture, DNA electroporation into animal and bacterial cells, plasmid preparations, immunohistochemistry, gene expression profiling, etc.
  • Prepares reagents, solutions /buffers, gels, etc.
  • PCR genotyping.
  • Works with small animals.
  • Assists in preparation of grant applications for funding of specialized research activity as well as assist with manuscript preparation.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience

  • Enrollment in an accredited college or university leading towards a bachelor's or master's degree.
  • Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must possess good organization and documentation skills, and must demonstrate good communication skills in English.
  • Must be able to quickly learn new techniques and work independently, with careful attention to detail.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Science majors.
  • Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Occasional lifting of 20 pounds to a height of 6½ feet.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours on short notice, including overtime and some weekends and holidays.
  • Must be willing to work with radioactive materials and small animals.

    Immunization Requirements
