Essential Job Duties:

Fayetteville State University Aquatic Center is seeking lifeguards. Specific responsibilities include:

-Enforce guidelines and swimming rules

- Ensure safety by tracking swimmers and surveying pools

- Monitor areas and recognize signs of danger

- Perform preventative maintenance through cleaning tasks

- Inspect the facility and report unsafe conditions or equipment

- Assist with opening and closing checklists

- Understand and enforce Aquatic Center area specific guidelines

- Knowledge and implantation of emergency action plan

Other work/ Responsibilities :

Assist as needed in all required departmental functions.

Work schedule: Varies.

Description of Work Continued: Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid Certification

Knowledge skills and abilities:

Ability to pass lifeguard water test.

Must be able to remain alert.

Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.

Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals.

Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.

Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.

Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
