Job Summary
This position is located at the Hancock County Community Health Center. This
is a temporary position.
The Patient Care Specialist works under the general supervision of the Center
Director or Advanced Practice Nurse, performing clinical duties.
Work performed involves knowledge of the basic principles and practices of
nursing, and a variety of tasks in an ambulatory health care setting
including:
Assisting professional nurses in all aspects of clinical care.
Administering injections.
Performing EKGs.
Gathering specimens.
Assisting with special procedures and general workups.
Performing other related non-professional nursing and clerical duties as
required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to utilize electronic health record systems for accomplishing
daily tasks.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, supervisors, physicians,
and co-workers both orally and in writing.
Ability to communicate professionally via telephone with pharmacies,
providers, and community agencies as needed.
Ability to effectively communicate patient needs to providers.
Ability to handle all patient information responsibly.
Ability to adhere to and apply all university, college, department, and
clinic policies and procedures. Ability to behave professionally at all
times and present a positive image of the facility.
Ability to work as a team member. ·
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
Ability to pay attention to details.
Ability to apply time management principles in order to accomplish
assigned duties.
Knowledge of accepted nursing/CMA standards and practices.
Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and guidelines.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of basic pharmacology.
Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of nursing
Basic computer skills.
Skilled in providing patient care in accordance with the facility's
applicable standards, policies, and procedures.

Required Qualifications
High School Graduate.
RMA, CMA (AAMA certification), or LPN.
Current CPR card.
