Position Description
The Department of Digital Media Arts at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized, applicants for a pool temporary of part-time teaching appointments.

Department of Digital Media Arts, Audio Engineering The B.A. in Audio Engineering is a hands-on, professionally-oriented program geared for students who want marketable job skills for careers in studio recording, live sound reinforcement, and sound design for television, film, and live theatre. Students track, mix, and master their own audio projects for television documentaries, public service announcements (PSA's), instructional films, and a variety of client-based projects for nonprofit organizations, community groups, and corporate partners.
The mission of the Audio Engineering degree is to 1) provide an academic program that gives students a solid base in the theory and technology skills required for professional careers in studio recording, live sound reinforcement, and sound design for television, film, and live theatre.; 2) provide hands-on experience in the basic software and hardware tools utilized in audio engineering; 3) provide the opportunity for students to work in teams, applying their tracking, mixing, mastering, producing, and engineering skills to produce a variety of professional-quality audio and sound design projects; and 4) develop interpersonal skills and professional demeanor that will enable students to work effectively and cooperatively as team players on collaborative projects in the industry.

The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled based on student enrollment and authorized funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
Responsibilities Teach assigned upper division courses in the department's curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications • A Bachelor's degree in Audio Recording, Media Arts or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience. • Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications • A Master's degree in Audio Recording, Media Arts or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience. • A Ph.D. or M.F.A. in Audio Recording, Media Arts or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2022, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are: Lecturer A: $4,530-$6,056 Lecturer B: $5,405-$11,994 Lecturer C: $6,190-$13,172 Lecturer D: $7,794-$13,797
