Position Information

The Department: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers an ABET accredited bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, and an ABET accredited bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. The Department has approximately 250 undergraduate majors.

The Position: Temporary Faculty (Lecturer) Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience. Minimum Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is either: - a Master of Science or higher degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or in a related area from an accredited university by the time of employment. or - a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or in a related field from an accredited university and five or more years of industry experience.

In addition, successfully candidates must have: o a strong commitment to teaching with a proven record of or the potential for developing innovative pedagogical approaches to courses, labs, and projects. o a willingness to participate as team member to assess student outcomes and to adapt to changes in the curriculum. o excellent oral and written communication skills. o an awareness of the educational goals of a diverse and multicultural population.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this position

Responsibilities: This lecturer position seeks candidates who will teach the electrical and computer engineering undergraduate courses and laboratories. These lab classes include digital logic, FPGAs and microcontrollers, embedded systems, circuits, systems, powers, and power electronics. The faculty should also be able to teach relevant core courses or mentor student projects. A successful faculty will support undergraduate students in their laboratory and senior design efforts through teaching relevant courses, managing the lab, and providing guidance. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

Recruitment Preferences

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates in all areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Engineering are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates in computer engineering disciplines including but not limited to: digital logic, digital system design, computer networking, cyber security, embedded systems including IoT, and computer architecture. Applicants with one or more years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, particularly in lower division courses, laboratory courses that emphasized engineering design, and/or capstone design courses, are also preferred.

Benefits Information

CSU, Chico offers a number of benefits to its employees (e.g., sick leave, vacation, health insurance). Eligibility for standard CSU benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation.

Eligibility for Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
