  • Position Summary:

    Recruiting for adjunct faculty positions within various departments at Kodiak College. Adjunct Instructor positions teaching course(s) for the Fall/Spring/Summer semesters. Adjunct positions are on a semester-by-semester basis.

    Duties:

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of accepted instruction methods. Outstanding ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Strong public speaking and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and administration within a diverse rural campus community.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

    Bachelor's degree/Master's degree (discipline dependent) in a field related to the position, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience depending on the discipline. Applicants must meet faculty guidelines for the appropriate department at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) to teach for Kodiak College, a community campus of UAA.

    TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

    University, community or technical college teaching experience is required. At least two-year's experience is strongly preferred. Experience teaching traditional campus-based courses and distance education (eLearning) in rural communities is strongly preferred.

    Adjunct instructors must live in Alaska, preferably on Kodiak Island.

    To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Applicants who now or may in the future require visa sponsorship to work in the United States are not eligible.

    Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of a contract. Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students.

    This is an at-will, union represented adjunct position, and may be cancelled based upon the needs of the university.
